Doing your own manicure at home is a great way to pamper yourself after a very busy week. You can do this by creating your very own nail spa right in your own bedroom or living room. Just light some scented candles and play some relaxing music and you have recreated the relaxing atmosphere of a spa. It would be the perfect setting while you do your own manicure at home.
Doing your manicure at home does not mean that you just paint your nails with some nail polish and you are done. You also have to pamper your nails as well as your hands when you give yourself a manicure at home. You can start removing the old nail polish on your nails if you have any. You can remove the old nail color using a cotton ball with a small amount of nail polish remover.
After your nails are once again bare you can proceed with your manicure at home by soaking your nails in some store-bought soak to soften your cuticles or you can just use a bowl filled with warm water mixed with a small amount of liquid soap. After soaking your nails, it will be easier to trim them and remove the cuticles when you do your own manicure at home.
After soaking your nails, you can apply some cuticle oil on your nails, making sure that the cuticles are well soaked. This will be easier to push back the cuticles using an orange stick. Just gently push back the softened cuticles with the orange stick. You can also use it to remove the dirt and dead skin underneath your nails when you give yourself a manicure at home.
The next step for your manicure at home is to cut and then shape your nails. You can just trim your nails to the length that you prefer or you can clip them really short. After cutting your nails with the use of a nail cutter, you can shape them. Just use an emery board to shape your nails. Make sure that you file your nails in one direction only. Start on the side of the nail going to the middle. Filing your nails back and forth can be very damaging to your nails.
Another important step when you do your own manicure at home is to buff your nails. Buffing will remove any uneven areas on your nails so that your nail polish will look very smooth and even. It is also easier to apply nail polish when the nails are very smooth and even.
After all the preparations are done then you are finally ready to apply some nail polish. You can also just leave your nails uncolored or you can apply a clear base coat. When you apply pedicure at home colored nail polish, make sure to apply some base coat first to protect your nails.
